Your Daily Milan Striker Rumors
By: Martha | October 22nd, 2007
Another shutout, another day of rumors about Milan’s striker-chasing.
Since last summer, we’ve been hearing about their love for Didier Drogba who, despite apologizing for his outburst of misery last week, hasn’t taken back anything he said about having Milan on his shortlist of future homes. And, not being a crazy person, Carlo Ancelotti said something to the press when asked about the matter about Drogba being a great player, and how anyone with half a brain would want him at their club. This, of course, has been interpreted as a News Story by certain sectors of the Italian press (much like Figo expressing admiration for Ricky Quaresma is always turned into a call for him to join Inter), and the Ivorian is ever-present in stories about Milan’s summer plans, including this one.
Today, though, the English press have found a Frenchman for the Rossoneri to chase: Bolton’s Nicolas Anelka, with whom they were first associated about a month ago. Depending on what day it is, Anelka is either pledging his future to Bolton (he signed an extension in August that runs through 2011), or threatening to leave because of their dire start and his desire for Champions League football; if you believe press reports, Milan will provide him an out in January, offering the English club £12.5 million for the striker.
So far in his career, Anelka has played for a whole lotta clubs in England, France, Spain and Turkey — it’s not so hard to imagine he’ll be wandering off again soon, particularly if Bolton are still in the bottom three by Christmastime.

if he’s really into what he’s got on his shirt, maybe we can convince him to join Licorno…

Come on, dude — Che is fashion, he’s only a lifestyle at Livorno (and wherever Lucarelli happens to be playing).

I love Anelka. He’s fiercely talented and not the diva so many say he is. I’d love to see him in a Champions League team sometime before he gets too old.
