Zlatan to be Ceremonially Buried in Money?
By: Martha | November 21st, 2007
Every major Italian sports paper this morning is exploding with the story of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s pending mega-deal with Inter, one which will apparently involve regular payments of tribute, and the delivery of semi-precious stones and giant vats of frankincense and myrrh to his home. Something like that, anyway.
The big Swede, who his club’s president — among others — considers “the best striker in the world,” is signed through 2011, and is currently earning €5 million/season, a salary the club are also paying both Adriano and Patrick Vieira (I don’t want to talk about it). If the reports today are true, though, he’s set for a massive raise that will more than double his salary, leaving him on an astonishing €11 million/season. God damn. Not surprisingly, if the rumors turn out to be true, the salary would set a new record, not just in Italy but world-wide. (At least, that’s what the press are saying — I suppose it’s only inflation that keeps it from being surpassed by the value of one of those one-year deals the clubs in Qatar were handing out for a while.)
Zlatan’s People aren’t talking about any deal, telling the press only that Ibrahimagic (thanks to RomaChris for the new name) is happy at Inter, but that he’s not worried about signing an extension right now. In case you were curious, his Golden Ball Rival isn’t talking about his alleged raise — from €6 million to €9 million/season — either. At least in the rumors, though, Zlatan is kicking Kaka’s ass.

_”We are delighted that Kakà has erupted 9 million.”_
…Now I’m scared.
Also, I’d say you used that picture on purpose, but I doubt you were thinking of it. Still: Zlatan, stop making me like you.

Sorry, Angharad, I just couldn’t resist! (Anyway, that picture needs to be shown to the world — I’m just doing my little part.)
Yes, Bonnie, and when you find out, you need to come back and let us know ASAP. Got that?

Ibra’s worth it I think. I can’t believe Adriano and Viera are getting paid that much. Inter should sue them

BTW, I prefer this pic:

I can’t believe I’m saying this about anyone and that amount of money, Mark, but I think I agree with you — I mean, if anyone’s worth the risk, he is.
(And that IS a great picture — it was that one, this one, or one with Freddie Ljungberg in which they both look like they’re smelling something awful.)

Will do, Martha. Though knowing Zlatan (personally, obviously), it’s probably made of gold, bacause dammit, he’s worth it.

Ibra has earned it so far, I just hope he continues scoring goals. I don’t know if I would call him the out right best striker, but he is among the top 4 along with Totti, van Nistelrooy & Messi (when he is playing striker).

That is some fabulous hair on Zlatan, I concur.

Mmmh… “Ibrahimagic” is good, but my personal favorite remains “Ibracadabra”. Dead-on.
