Everything’s Gone All Juve
By: Martha | January 18th, 2007
The last few days have seen even more rumors than usual about players heading to Juve, and only to Juve. What I don’t get is, assuming all the stories are NOT true, why just them? Why not a nice mix of the other clubs with money? Curiouser and curiouser.
•Emerson, who masterfully ran the Juve midfield last year, has been struggling in Spain since his summer transfer to Real Madrid. Things are so bad, apparently, that he’s ready to come back to his Turin home — desperate to do so, if you believe Dider Duschamps. There would be loads of issues with a negotiating a return, primary among them Emerson’s massive salary, and the fact that his value has nearly halved since the move — one wonders what Real would be getting out of the deal.
•This one isn’t a rumor: Midfielder Hasan Salihamidzic has announced that he’s leaving Bayern Munich this summer and will join Juve on a free transfer. Well. That was easy.
•Andres D’Alessandro, meanwhile, has been talking out of school about his good buddy Javier Saviola. According to the loose-lipped Argentine — who actually WENT ON THE RADIO with this information — Saviola told him (in confidence, one assumes) that Barcelona and Juve have agreed to a deal, and that he’ll be re-joining his former Monaco coach Didier Deschamps this summer.
•Another rumored returnee is Alessio Tacchinardi, who spend nearly 10 years with the club before leaving when his playing time decreased under Marcello Lippi. Now with Villarreal, the player has much love for the Old Lady, and is reportedly eager to end his career in Turin.
