Scantily-Clad Footballer of the Week: The Poll

The possibility of creating a footballer companion to the WAG of the Week feature has been suggested several times in the past and discussed in detail this week, so it’s time to get down and dirty with a GHD-inspired poll on the subject.

The Project

•A weekly WAG of the Week-esque post featuring either an Italian footballer or a foreigner who plies his trade in Italy. (The above wouldn’t necessarily work since it features many footballers, but Julie sent it to me and it clearly needed to be shared.) Said post would be on a different day from the WAG and would in no way steal her delightful thunder. One big picture, WAG-style.

The Arguments

•Knowing I had an outlet for my unending urge to post pictures of semi-naked footballers, the odds are good this would decrease the number of shirtless pics that appear with regular posts. (Muddia, this one’s for you.)

•The (straight) female readers around these parts deserve an equal opportunity to ogle.

•I pledge to not feature Figo every week. Or Bobo. There will be variety, and an effort to make non-obvious choices. Really.

•Though, as with the WAGs, I will be open to suggestions.

•Think of the gay male football fans! Illary Blasi just doesn’t do it for them.

•The shirtlesss footballers right now appear in posts that just happen to be about them (which I do with the women when possible — witness the picture when that skank made Mario Borriello fail a drugs test). One — not me, of course — could argue that they deserve to be pimped in their own right, with lists of naked accomplishments and whatnot. You know, just like the ladies.

So, cast your vote below, and feel free to leave enormously persuasive comments to keep people like Muddia from exploding with rage at the very thought. Also, I need name ideas for the possible new future. I’ve got a few, but they’re dodgy at best: NNSN (No Nipple-Shields Needed) and FAG (Footballers and Gaffers — not that there’s anything wrong with it, but I ruled that one out right away) are the front-runners, so clearly I’m in desperate need of help; leave those in the comments as well.
